Great Smoky Mountains logged more visitors on a average weekend in 2025 than the bottom of this list saw all year. That's not a failure of the quiet parks. Most of them are quiet for a reason worth knowing before you go. Some are Alaskan wilderness with no road in, some are islands that require a boat and a plan, and a few are simply overlooked units in ordinary places, which makes them the cheapest solitude in the system.
