Open data
The cleaned aggregate tables behind this site, free for any use without permission or attribution (though a link back helps others find the source). Each file is regenerated by the same nightly pipeline that rebuilds the site, so the data below is never older than the pages that cite it. Current snapshot: October 14, 2026.
One row per page on this site, covering every unit of the National Park System plus the trails, affiliated areas and related areas the Park Service lists, with designation, states, 2025 recreation visits, dark-sky certification, whether a timed-entry reservation or an entrance fee applies, the bird species count from the NPSpecies checklist, the number of active alerts, and the coordinates the Park Service publishes for the unit.
Columns: park_code, name, designation, unit_type, states, visitors_2025, dark_sky_certified, timed_entry_required, has_entrance_fees, bird_species, alerts_active, latitude, longitude, nps_status, fee_free
Every published entrance fee at every unit that charges one, with the fee type (private vehicle, per person, motorcycle, commercial), the cost in dollars, and the Park Service description of what it covers. Units absent from this file publish no structured entrance fee.

Provenance and cadence
Sources are the National Park Service API, the NPS visitor use statistics system, and the NPSpecies database; the full source list is on the methodology page. A GitHub Actions job refreshes the underlying data nightly and republishes these files; the snapshot date above changes only when the data does. A mirrored copy with version history lives at github.com/kirkwood-justin/park-atlas-data, where the commit log doubles as a changelog. Corrections and questions: open an issue.
