One row per page on this site, covering every unit of the National Park System plus the trails, affiliated areas and related areas the Park Service lists, with designation, states, 2025 recreation visits, dark-sky certification, whether a timed-entry reservation or an entrance fee applies, the bird species count from the NPSpecies checklist, the number of active alerts, and the coordinates the Park Service publishes for the unit.

Columns

park_code: Four-letter NPS unit code, the key used across every Park Atlas file and URL
name: Full official name
designation: Designation as the Park Service records it (National Park, National Monument, Parkway, and so on)
unit_type: Grouping used on Park Atlas
states: Two-letter state codes, comma separated when a unit crosses lines
visitors_2025: Recreation visits reported for calendar 2025; blank when the unit does not report
dark_sky_certified: True when DarkSky International lists the unit as a certified place
timed_entry_required: True when a timed-entry or vehicle reservation applies for part of the year
has_entrance_fees: True when the unit publishes a structured entrance fee
bird_species: Bird species on the NPSpecies checklist
alerts_active: Alerts in effect on the snapshot date
latitude: Decimal degrees, WGS84
longitude: Decimal degrees, WGS84
nps_status: unit when the Park Service lists it as a unit of the National Park System; part, trail, affiliated or related otherwise
fee_free: True when the Park Service marks the unit free to enter (the rule the free parks page uses)
